Hi, We have sent off all the documents to start the ball rolling to go to Canada on the Super Visa, We got a reply from London asking for acpo checks on us both, We got those done and sent them off, so they now have all our sponsor details,police checks and medical insurance for Canada certificate,
They said we will need medicals and they will let us know, also they sent the processing fee back we sent them, saying that the payment was not required? it was in Canadian dollars, but they sent the draft back saying its not required?
My questions are, how come they don't want paying? and its been three weeks now, so how much longer does it take? I guess the next thing they tell us is where to go for the medicals, after we have that done, then how long does it take? We have sold the house and not knowing how long things took to process we started the medical cover for 20th of December 2012, We had to have the medical cover in place and proof of payment but its running and we are still in the UK waiting, driving us crazy waiting for the postman and still no word! We were told the Super Visa was a pretty quick process, does anyone know how long these things take? any info would be wonderful. Thanks

This is the Parent/Grandparent Super Visa we are doing, it said somewhere that it would be around 8 weeks, it can't be up to 50 months surely! really? that long? I thought the Super Visa was brought in to give quick access to Canada for Parents/Grandparents coming from the UK to family members in Canada who have permanant residence there, Can anyone help here?

Why have you sold your house?

my partners son lives in Canada and we were told we would get the Super Visa no problem, so in this climate we thought it best to put the house up for sale and it sold, then we wait for the Visa which again we were told wouldn't take too long,

But why did you sell it? You realise that you will have to return to the UK at some point, don't you?

Visa officers consider several factors before deciding if a person is admissible. The person must be a genuine visitor to Canada who will leave by choice at the end of the visit. Among the things that could be considered are:
•the person’s ties to the home country;
•the purpose of the visit;
•the person’s family and financial situation;
•the overall economic and political stability of the home country; and
•an invitation from a Canadian host.

The idea is that we apply for the 10 year stay after each 2 year period expires and then apply for permanant residents, we are both in our 60's

I can't help with the timeline, sorry. But visitors from visa-exempt countries do not need to submit fees with their application. I assume you hold a UK passport?

Oh, I see, so really we should have not stated we have sold our home in the UK, as this looks like we have no home country ties? didn't realise this

Yes we have UK passports, sold the house, the idea is that we go and live with my partners son in his large house, eventually staying for good
