I just heard on CTV that from today they are changing the laws for new residents moving to BC from overseas regarding getting there BC Drivers license. Did not give any details! Nothing on ICBC website, anyone know what the changes are?

Maybe there will allow more straight swaps from other countries or increase the 90 day limit!

You sure about this? Laws don't normally just change - there is usually some announcement first.

Just heard on the 5pm CTV news. It started off talking about changes to drink driving laws. Then mentioned that from today there were changing the rules regarding overseas licensed drivers moving to BC.

Maybe it's scrapping the exchange and making everyone go through the two year graduated learner program... mwahahahaha!

The changes are only for agricultural workers from overseas. They can drive for 1 year on their out of province license. Instead of the current 6 months. Nothing May benefit people on a Bunac visa.

Out of interest does anyone know if it is true that if you leave BC for a short period (i.e. day visit to US), the 90 day period starts again?

When i visited ICBC beginning of April, she told me i would have 3 months on UK license, need to sit a written test and then do a practical, for this i would get full BC license, and would have my UK one returned too! Not looking forward to doing tests again, but at least they are thorough!

Some people have been told this is true, some not - no one has yet crashed after a re visit to test it!
