My son of 27 has now said he would like to join us......................
Can we sponsor him? He is our only child and we are unsure which is the best route to follow. All advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

You can only sponsor Dependent Children. For him to still be dependent on you at 27 he would have to be completely financially dependent on you. That's pretty unusual at 27 unless he was still in higher education and you could argue that you paid for everything. If he is married or has a job or anything indipendant then you won't be able to sponsor him. I think the cut off for dependent is around 22, can't recall exactly but it's no older than that.

So unfortunately it looks like the only way he will be able to get PR is as an indipendant applicant like skilled worker or PNP like you did or he would have to have eligable family members in Canada like a spouse.

He can probably get 5 points as a federal skilled worker if his parents are living in Canada as PRs. Check the CIC website, http://www.cic.gc.ca

It may also be easier for him to get a PNP certificate, if he wants to go to the same province as you. Depends on the province rules.
