Incase nobody has seen the musings of this particular expat...

Apart from the guide to what he sees as Canada there's plenty of compelling but hapless rants on expatriate brits abroad. He also seems like a bit of a racist and is definitely of the last generation of upper middle class brits I wouldn't want a Canadian to assume as an ambassador for our country.. but I'm interested in your thoughts on his views.
There's a bit of entertainment to be had on the email outtakes page. I think some of them ring a bit false but this gent was heartfelt enough
"You Brits are a pain in the ass. Can't you go anywhere in this world and not complain about it.

I nearly stopped reading after this section on canada:
"For the married couple, with or without children, the availability of good jobs, especially professional and career-based, are quite extensive. There's always room for one more well qualified and well experienced individual in the three most important work fields: education, health care, and technical."
Im hoping it was writen toungue in cheek rather than as serious information. I've had no worried finding real tea, and the bacon thing seems to rather ignore the preponderance of "canadian bacon" on the shelves, and the "never been a joke about america on canadian TV" comment is just bizarre, there a whole gaggle of comedians (Rick Mercer foremost) making a handsome living taking the piss out of our Southern Friends.

It's no to 'Emo'. Short for emotional and the word they use to describe the musical output of malcontent teenagers with too much eye makeup and an unhealthy obsession with Bagpuss.
There's nothing intrinsically wrong with it I just don't like the music. They're today's boy bands.
Brian Eno is cool btw

They also teach in ALL their schools that England were not the victors at the Battle of Waterloo! A magazine called 'The Beaver', which is supposed to be thee 'Canada's History' magazine, has NEVER printed a 'favourable' story about the British in Canada. Never. Nothing about the British who opened Canada up, made it what it is, and defended it in 1812. Nothing about the British who put up the money and most of the know-how in building its railways, cities, and roads. The British built whole cities, like New Westminster in B.C.
Also, I didn't realize New Westminster qualified as a "city."

Apparantly the need to requalify to work in the first two fields for sure , and probably for the third too to some extent, is lost on the poor chap, and thats before you even factor in the need for canadian experience to then land a decent job.

I did, however enjoy some of his stories.
