A few years ago I tried to buy glasses in Canada - my prescription is high and in the UK I had always bought extra thin glass lenses. In Canada, and the US, it was only possible to get plastic lenses and they were much thicker, and more expensive (the x-rate was 2.2 at the time!) Something to do with Health & Safety - is this still the case?

For some cheaper non-walmart/non-costco glasses/lenses try http://www.clearlycontacts.ca/
Lots of contacts (obviously), but plenty of options for glasses too. I haven't ordered mine yet, but $99 for lenses and fancy frames is a steal. |
