Default Opening UK savings acc after moving to Canada

I kept my current account with NatWest after moving couple of years ago and no problems with it.
I am wondering if you're able to open a savings account elsewhere (for example, Barclays)

KYC regulation makes it very difficult to open a UK bank account without being physically present in the UK.

It's easy to open a UK bank or building society account without being physically present as it can be done online in most cases. But most (or all) will require you to be a UK resident.

There are international or offshore accounts but for ordinary accounts the moment you say you don't live in the UK (with Barclays) or you can't give a UK postcode (with Lloyds) you can't complete the application. So "easy" if you don't tell the truth.
