Question Open University qualifications

Are qualifications from the Open University recognised in Canada? Does anyone have experience regarding this when working or living in Canada?

I am intrigued as to why you think they wouldn't be as the OU has the same degree award bearing powers as any other UK Higher Education institution?

I'm sure there was a thread about this recently. Have you tried doing a search of the forum?

I had my Computer Science BSc Degree accredited and they said it was equivalent to a 3 year degree from a Canadian University. Certainly helped when I was looking for a job too.

My OU law degree (LLB Hons) was accepted as equivalent to a Canadian Bachelor of Laws degree by World Education Services (www.wes.org.ca).

I didn`t know that OU offered the LL.B. Times have changed

It would be interesting to know if an OU LL.B. is accepted by the Federation of Law Societies of Canada as a qualifying law degree. It is accepted as such by the Law Society of England and Wales?

Yes it is accepted as a qualifying law degree by the Law Society of England and Wales, and as far as I know also in Canada - though I haven't put that one to the test in Canada yet
