Default Ontario address change...temporary address for 4 weeks

Long story short, we are building a new home which will be ready on 10th December. We are moving out of our old home as of 1st November, staying somewhere temporary for the time in between. Obviously we do not want to have to change addresses on drivers licenses, bills, etc for 5 weeks.

I will have Canada post forward mail from old address-->temporary address, then from old address--->new address once we move.

I am assuming bills, banking statements, are not going to matter for 5 weeks. What does matter to me is if this is ok from a drivers license, insurance, etc POV. I get enough police attention whilst driving, I don't need a stupid ticket for failing to update my address when I was supposed to. Is it ok to leave it as my old address until we actually move to our new permanent residence, since our temporary address is, well, just that.

I think the law is 6 days from address change. I can see that it would be a pain to change everything, only to have to change it all again. I guess it comes down to your risk tolerance,

can't you just give your new address? After all it's family property. Presumably there's a physical location address, what about the new mailing address? Could you set up a p.o. box for that location.?

In this situation it would be like changing your address to a hotel/airbnb...not really possible.

Since the new home is a new build canada post says they will not give us access to the mailbox until 2 weeks before move-in. Now, what they do to prove that I have no idea, so I could just say we are moving in earlier then planned.

Can you ask them directly what people in your position should do…preferably in writing? They must have encountered this problem before.

Did you see the delivery times for the new cards etc? If you submitted the application within the 6 days of moving into the temporary accommodation, delivery should correspond with the time your mail box is available
https://www.ontario.ca/page/change-a...nd-health-card
Delivery
Driver’s licence -Your driver’s licence will arrive in the mail in 4-6 weeks.
Vehicle permit -No delivery. You have to pick it up in person at a ServiceOntario centre. Bring your current licence and original vehicle permit with you.
Health card -No delivery.
Or get a mail box rental for the 5 weeks.. you will give them a physical address, but a mailing address separately (then change it again later, if you want to).. Perhaps give Service Ontario a call to ask, if all else fails

There is also the option of not driving like a twat for the next few weeks or is it the type of car you drive that attracts attention from the Police you know the type blacked out windows, noisy muffler, led lights under the body or other modifications that boy racers do?

No mods, all stock lol but yes to the tinted windows...I have a bit of a heavy foot. I could discuss the absurdity of how low the speed limits are in Ontario but that is topic for another thread.

Bottom line, I have enough marks on my driving record, don't need one for an avoidable administrative error.

Low speeds? I have never seen such bad driving as I see on the roads here. Speeding, weaving in and out, overtaking/undertaking, riding bumpers. You sound as if the marks in your driving record are said with pride.

Sometimes I am surprised at how many tickets and points people can collect, sure I got 1 ticket in my early 20's for going 65 in a 55 (I had just moved to Wisconsin and didn't realize they had a lower speed limit than California did) but I guess I never drove like a normal 20 something because other than that ticket haven't gotten one since, sometimes at work I was just amazed at how many tickets and points some of my co-workers collected on a semi-regular basis.
