Default One way insurance V's Medical insurance

Hello all,
I am just looking at insurance for when we go over to Canada, I've looked in Wiki and looked at a couple of sites. There is a vast difference between a one way insurance broker's cover for 3 months including travel over and a company offering medical insurance, yet comparing them there does not appear to be much difference in the policy cover or cover figures, which are about the same. Can anyone offer their experience on this so I make sure I am properly covered, more importantly for my wife and children than me (big and daft enough to accept if I hurt myself)

Many thanks in advance

Simon
