Hi All
Some more help please, my partners mother had "landed immigrant status" . She arrived in Canada in January 1957 and lived there for 16 years, when she worked and paid taxes etc.
She no longer has the piece of paper although she still has an older passport with the stamp.
If she decides to move out with us, will this visa still be valid? Do we need to get a reissue or do we need to make a new application for her?
Thanks in advance
Rob

I would think she would have to apply for Permanent Residence status. My sister has lived in Canada for 30 years but is not a citizen. She had to apply for PR status before she went to England for a holiday.
There is no such thing as Landed Immgrant any more. I think others here will know if you lose your status if you leave Canada for some lengthy period. I have no idea about that.
If my math is correct, she hasn't lived in Canada for about 35 years, so perhaps she would have to apply all over again.

Why did she not become a Canadian citizen herself in that 16 year period?
