We live in Paris, Ontario and have been here for a few weeks now. So far, we're very happy to be here
My wife is a qualified Occupational Therapist having previously done the job in the UK and is interested to get into the same field here in Canada. Does anyone know what is required in terms of qualification to work in Canada (we are here on PR visas)? I gather that there is an examination that she needs to take but we are having trouble tracking the correct info down. Perhaps someone who is already an OT here could advise?

she may be able to get work as an OT assistant while waiting for approval. That would also be a useful thing to do to get the Canadian experience, plus learning local terminology and practices for the exam.

I'm a PT in Alberta, but having gone through the process I think it is very similar for OTs
The sites you need to look at are: http://www.caot.ca
and: http://www.coto.org
You should find all you need to know about first establishing equivalency of training, and then registering for the licensing exam, and what the practising requirements are for registraion with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario.
Good luck.
