Default Nurses wanting to move to BC

Hi my husband and I are both UK registered mental health nurses and are hoping to relocate to British Columbia asap. We don't have any kids yet. We would love to hear from any nurses (especially RMN's) regarding contrasts between Canadian/UK nursing careers. We would like to be able to live semi-rural but have had very mixed experiences of rural psychiatry in New Zealand where we lived for 3 years.

hello!

and welcome.....

i am not a RN but i do work in the medical area here in BC on vancouver island.

interesting enough..just a month ago a english RN told me of how she was able to come to work here in the hospital without a visa..as she opted to work in the emergency.

there are many routes available from what i understand. maybe post in the lifestyle forum..you will soon get a lot of resonses i am sure.

and it can be very difficult comparing one experience in one country to another...( NZ /canada)....

good luck with everything....god knows without nurses the world would stop!!

Hi There,
Welcome to BE. Healthmatchbc has good information on the
Immigration process, RPN registration and job vacancies.

I left UK a long ago ,so can't give you the contrasts of Canadian
and UK psych. nursing.
I work in a downtown Vancouver hospital on an acute psych.unit.
Very busy,however loving the challenge.
Hope that helps.
Yoong

Welcome to this wonderful site. We came to the Vancouver lower mainland many years ago now and I am not a nurse. However, I do have a couple of good friends who are psych nurses in my area who are retiring this year and mentioned that with the amount of nurses retiring, someone has to take their place! Good luck with your quest.

Hi
I live in Chilliwack rural area outside Vancouver, lots of nurses and doctors coming from Britian. We also have a number of people from New Zealand.
The nursing staff seem to love it here! Shall give them your thread to look up.
