Just read an interesting article in the Emigration Now newsletter. Quick summary would be as follows.
Cheers, Iain
- 479 more Brits moved to Canada in 2003 than in 2002.
- 5,198 arrived in total from the UK in 2003.
- That's the second-highest amount of UK residents to move to Canada in the last eight years, but is likely to be surpassed by 2004's figures as the lower points threshold takes effect.
- The UK has now overtaken Sri Lanka (!) to become Canada's ninth most popular source country for immigrants and is the second most popular European country behind Romania.
- Overall, the number of PRs for 2003 was actually DOWN on 2002 (by 3%) at 221,340 - only slightly above the lower end of the 220,000 to 245,000 target range established in the migration plan for 2003.

The number from the UK is pretty small, although 28% of Canadians claim Brit descent.
The difference is that we usually show up with some cash and skills when we land.

Does anyone know how many Albanians immigrate every year into Canada?
It's going to be one more this year.
