We are off to sunny(!) Nova Scotia at the end of August for our recce and would like some (sensible) suggestions for some 'must see' places.
We are staying at the Quaich, if that helps location-wise.
Also, if anyone can recommend any IT companies to approach for jobs that would be helpful.
Thanks.

Keane are still recruiting from what I've heard from friends here, might be worth a try

do you have children, coming alone - maybe if you can give a few more details, and what you are looking for, it would help people with suggestions.
Just hope the fog is gone by August

If you are in Halifax, FRED, the bus is a good way of getting around town
http://www.downtownhalifax.ns.ca/default.asp?mn=1.8.36
you could link it with a trip on Theodore Tugboat

whale watching tours will still be operating from Halifax the end of August, but you probably have more chance of seeing whales if you travel up to Digby and take a tour from there
Peggy's Cove is always popular as is Shubenacadie Wildlife Park
