Is there some kind of reason why some of these comments are very 'pro Fall River'. I'm sure it's a lovely place to live but some posts appear to be more than just good advice!! Only my opinion of course...

Well, let's just say you were to have a look at Daniel E's profile, it may just mention the fact that he is an 'Estate Agent' Maybe covering Fall River, maybe ;)
(and he got a post deleted for advertising :p)

Hello - Oh, yes, I'm waddling. 3 weeks to go, crossing my legs to last another week and a half at work. Luckily only one really hot day here last week, so that makes it easier to cope with.

Sorry to barge in, especially when I am short on time and likely short on anything useful to add........but add it I shall!

To whomever commented that because the Murphy's live yadda yadda in Fall River that this was some commendation for using them......there are at least another 2 realtors that I know of who live there too, but we dont hear them being mentioned in the same manner as these ones are often aluded to. I have heard as many disatisfied customers as I have heard from satisfied ones with this pair.

And who buys a plot of land without standing on it yourself first? Blind luck isnt in it!

You need to go and look and look, we are in that process ourselves right now. We have looked at Fall River and many other areas, all 30 minutes out. You need someone who will go those extra yards for you and work on your behalf. Not sell you something either on their books, or pressure you into buying something that the locals wont buy..........shutting up now.

I agree, Jerry and Annette are a lovely couple but we also felt that we were being steered towards Fall River. I was talking to another realtor a few days ago and she said that they have built their business up through that area so it's no wonder that they are slightly bias. Once you are in the market to buy they will show other areas but if you are just on a reccie and want to get a feel of what you can buy then they are likely to just show you houses on their books.

Saying that though, I think that's the only negative thing about them and they are really good realtors, just make sure that you explore all areas before you come back and buy.

I have heard mostly positive things about Jerry and Annette from people that have used them although there is something about them that doesnt sit well with me: They handle such a huge volume of house buying for Brits that its almost a production line. Thats why they attend the immigration shows etc. In fact I heard they made over $600k in commissions between them last year such is the massive volume of business they are doing. So you have to question how much they take people's individual needs into account when helping them find a home or whether it more of a case of offering an "off-the-peg" sort of package based on what they think the average Brit moving to NS wants (i.e. a new house with walk-out basement in Fall River).

Anyway, if someone did want an alternative to the production line approach I would recomend Carla MacNeil from A&H GMAC ([email protected] tel: 902-830-9677). By coincidence Carla does live near Fall River but I know she covers the whole province and has helped people by in Parsboro, Eastern Shore etc as well as near Halifax. She's also a good friend of mine.

Carla went the extra mile for me anyway without a doubt.
