Default November grocery price comparison for Calgary is up

Comparison between the four major grocery chains in Calgary.

Co-op, Safeway, Sobey's and Superstore.

Once again it is cheapest to shop at the Real Canadian Superstore.

CTV Calgary Food Price Comparisons

True, could be a whole new sport...almost as much fun as figuring out PPR, COPR, ROLF, IELTS etc etc

I thought the total cost for each store would be quite a bit closer, bloody rip off merchants.

I'll get the OH to get to stupidstore, hang on a minute they charge you for bags and they don't offer carry out either.

Any comments on Costco?

Reasonably good prices but you have to buy such large quantities. It may be more worth it for a family.

We do shop there but we don't buy a lot of foodstuffs, although they do have some very good quality fresh meats.

Several years ago I bought a package of frozen chicken strips, trade name was Chicken Nibblers or something like that. After I'd got home, I glanced at the register tape and discovered I'd bought 1 CHICK NIBBLE. I kept that tape for a long time, but the ink finally faded... got a laugh every time I looked at it, though.

As far as I know you can, my mum uses her Costco card from Liverpool when she comes to visit me, and as I moved her from America earlier this year, I am still using my American card, not got around to changing the address yet.

Just lurve costco. But you seem to spend inane amounts of money every time you go. Hubby brought a fab ring once.
pretty sure you can use the card. Mother in law from canada, seems to use hers in USA and here!

Absolutely agree with you Steve on the meats....I've never seen anywhere to display excellent quality of meat. Their pork chops, steaks & chicken fillets are second to none! We also buy their "triangle" buns, 907g block of Crackerbarrel for $10 and multi packs of frozen lasagne. For these items alone, it is worth the $55 a year membership!!

Mmmmmm triangle buns just bought a bag of them yesterday.

They also have the best lamb chops.

I have to take a pass on the Crackerbarrel though, not good for the ticker.

Good place to buy an LCD or plasma TV's, pretty good prices and excellent return policy.

Also if anyone is into photography their prices for printing 4x6's are really good and for enlargements prices are excellent.

4x6 = $0.16
5x7 = $0.47
8x10 = $1.47
8x12 = $1.47
11x14 = $2.49
11x16.5 = $2.49
12x18 = $2.99

Cheers
Steve
