Question Nova Scotia Skilled Worker Stream

Have been looking on the web for a list of eligible occupations for the Nova Scotia skilled worker stream but can only find a vague list of occupations that are in demand there. Is a list printed anywhere that states what the eligible occupations are and is there also a list that states which occupations are non eligible?

Hi here is a copy of the skill worker NS guide.
It mainly covers types of jobs that wouldn't be considered for SWPNP
What line of work are you in?
It doesn't have to be on the OUP list.
You probably are aware but in case you are not, this stream works in conjunction with your future employer. So you will need a job offer first.
hope this is helpful

Thanks for the advice. I am in the Estate Agency business, unfortunately for me there will be very little demand for this and I fully expect my federal SW application to be rejected as I applied after the new regulations this year. Looking at the SWPNP that seems to be quite tight as well. I am now thinking of going down the international graduate stream and study something that will be in demand. Also I see the community stream is another option as well even though it looks very sketchy for example building community ties, a difficult thing to do when you don`t live there.

Hi

From our experience of the CI stream I can say that the interpretation of "ties" is dependent on what you can offer the community in which you are looking to settle and ultimately, what contribution you can make economically and socially to the region.

For this stream to be successful you will need to, in the first instance, establish contact with the relevent regional development agency who would support your application from the outset.

If you would like any more info, feel free to drop me a PM

Good luck

Thanks for the response. Well economically I could buy a property in the region and if I was studying there that would open up social possibilities as well, as I would be involved with the activities of the education facility. Therefore would having a property there and studying show a commitment to the region? Also is it a good idea to make contact with the RDA before you visit Nova Scotia or wait till you get there?

Hi

There has been plenty of debate on here recently re owning property in NS as a means to showing commitment for the CI stream.
From my own personal exprerience this is not a requirement, however each RDA within NS interprets this in their own way, so it may depend on where you are looking to settle and the RDA you are dealing with.

I would definitely look to make contact with the RDA's prior to any trip over to NS as this starts the ball rolling as far as your "connections" to NS..

Hi, I am thinking of the Halifax and Dartmouth area in which to settle but am flexible. I will have a look for threads regarding property purchases in Nova Scotia on this site, never actually noticed any before. As for contacting RDA`s do I get their details from the Nova Scotia nominee program site or is there another website with these details?

Hi

Here is a link to a website with all the RDA's,

http://www.nsarda.ca/default.asp?mn=1.212.204

this is a thread where CI stream/owning property comes up , although a lot of the info also considers medical situations.

http://britishexpats.com/forum/showt...british+family

and another thread here,

http://britishexpats.com/forum/showt...+living&page=6

Hope this helps a bit
