So the arsenic is only possibly a problem if you have a dug well then? Presumably town water supplies are safe, right?

There is a study going on, called Atlantic PATH and people who are interested can register to take part in it (which is what I just did)

Trip starts next Sunday...it takes a day to get out of the woods around here.

Anyway, I'm having a bit of trouble getting much info or response from real estate agents. I'm used to being able to ask questions or ask for more info on a house and get immediate information. We have an agent I have contacted but he is sooooo sloooow. I'm still not sure if he has made any appointments to view. I think I might need to go elsewhere. Time is getting close.

Does anyone know of a good agent? Someone who will be quick to respond and be willing to dig a bit for information? I'm getting pretty exasperated!

We are looking mostly around the Valley and the Bay of Fundy.
I've tried to get someone around Lunnenberg and I have been promised contact, but we are leaving in a week and still nothing.
We are hoping to find someone on the other side of the Bay, in NB too.
I'm getting worried...
I'm about to start calling people on the phone!

Anyone heard anything recently about it? I think the two years moratorium is almost up?

Delta...frustrating as it may seem....this is the reality of daily life here in the Maritimes...many people see it as part of its charm! I think it can be annoying and delightful too, but possibly not when one is awaiting change...best of luck!

I have found quite a few businesses in NS very difficult to communicate with by email. They either don't reply at all, or reply very slowly! At first I thought they were therefore rather useless, but have since worked out that actually they are usually fine, and even very helpful, they just want to communicate by phone or in person.
I sometimes wonder if they only check emails once a week....!

Hi everyone, I'm back.
NS was pretty and we really liked the boat ride on the Bay of Fundy waves.
We saw lots of houses, none of which were very good. Until the last one.
Looks perfect. Gives me an art gallery to run, and the sea for hubby.

However I am very aware of doing the same thing but different here. Buying a property instead of moving to a community. It's very rural, and ssllooowwww.
After this present situation, I am terrified of doing it again!
But this place does tick the boxes on paper. So, in a way I'd like to move to NS, but to be honest, I
Just want to go home!

We have lowered the price of our house here in BC. Hoping for more (read any) interest. Considering my husbands attitude, that is a BIG deal. But after two weeks, no viewings.

So, NS looks nice enough, but my heart is in England.
Don't know what will happen. Hubby is in England right now, and I'm so resentful.

I've read a lot of threads here where there is lots of homesickness and depression. Looks like Canada from England is a 50-50 chance. I had no real reason to leave. I should have said NO. Ladies, be aware of what you are agreeing to. Make sure you have a "get out of Dodge" clause in the contract. Agreeing to moving without a clear way to come back if it doesn't work is foolish.
Ask me how I know....I wish to God, I had never even heard of Canada.
*sigh*

There's another thread somewhere from a wife who does have a fall-back/get out of jail card but the possibility was raised that the foot still in the UK might have been a hindrance in settling in Canada.
