Hey guys
Just wondered if anyone has flown back to the UK, and had to clear customs in Glasgow, before continuing on to Gatwick.
Mum flies back tomorrow (sniff sniff) and is unsure what happens, and if she will get straight back on the same plane back to Gatwick?
I assume she has to collect her case and take it thru customs before getting back on the flight?

It depends, if they are using the same plane then she will probably sit on it until the other passangers have boarded or she will leave the plane and stay airside (e.g. at the gate area).

The UK does not have the same over-the-top transit rules as the USA, so she will only do customs and immigration when she leaves airside....that should be when she gets to Gatwick.

Did it four weeks ago. Glasgow peeps deplaned in Glasgow and us Gatwick lot got to stay on the plane for about an hour while flight crew checked that everyone had got off that should have and everyone still on the plane should be. We didn't have to leave the plane and our bags stayed put for the next leg.

I wasn't looking forward to the layover but actually it wasn't bad. About 75% of passengers got off at Glasgow and so those of us that remained had whole rows of seats to ourselves for the 90 min or so flight to Gatwick. Once the plane had left Glasgow I lay flat out and grabbed about 60 minutes sleep - really helped with the jetlag!

Watched her fly off this afternoon (bloody hard part about emigrating!)
Hopefully she won't have to wait too long, and does get to stay on the plane. Her ticket said she would have to disembark, so its good to know she doesnt have to!
