Default Not allowed to ship

Hi

Does anyone know if there is a list of what you are not allowed to ship over to Canada.

I want to bring a generator to power my tools, because it is petrol I wanted to know if you are allowed it in your container.

Also What about garden furniture I have a teak set would this be allowed.

Thanks

I'm sure there is a list...I think we got it from our shipping company, but if not the Customs Office would probably be the people to ask...now I do remember that garden stuff that we brought with us all had to be steam cleaned, so did our bikes, anything that may of had dirt on it. And I know that Tony got rid of all his power tools(and now wishes he hadn't!!!)...but I would contact your shipping company they sould be able to advise...good luck

Look up Canada Customs website - it's all there. You would have to empty the fuel out of your generator as the shipper probably wouldn't want it igniting in transit or in storage. Insurance probably wouldn't cover it as well if full of fuel! Otherwise, I don't see a problem with taking a generator.
Garden furniture would be Ok as long as it was completely cleaned of any dirt or mud. I brought a bike and cleaned it with a toothbrush before the shippers packed it. I also managed to bring in a ceramic plant pot that had only been rinsed out.
Just don't put anything in the container that'll make Customs WANT to open it (and then charge you handsomely for the privilege!)

Hi
If you are bringing tools bring all your masonary drill bits etc, it seems most commercial properties here are built of concrete, if space is short try a little internet search as some things like car tools, i.e. engine support beams are half the price of UK.
Also pack a few UK extension leads as they are (with a plug change) very useful, we didn't pack enough...
cheers
Jerry

In most cases you need more than just a plug change. Voltage in Canada is different to UK,so a transformer is needed. Most electrical goods, PCs and lamps excepted, don't travel well.

Hi
sorry forgot the obvious, the extension leads are only for use with moulded plug chargers, i.e mobile phones, nintendos, gameboys, etc ..... also we use them for our computers and monitors, X boxes
cheers

We were told that if we wanted to take our garden hose we would have to thoroughly clean it through and clean the length free of mud etc! so we aren't bothering LOL!

Also we are taking a vintage motorcycle and that can have petrol in the tank - just enough to get is going etc and can have the oil remaining it too.

We also heard a rumour you couldn't take mattresses but were told by our shipping co we could and that they have never had problems with doing so.

But yes Canada Customs website is the place to go for correct info.
