Niagra falls
Hey guys
Can someone help with my query. I live in BC, coming to toronto in 3 weeks, as a stayover en route to UK. Question: I would love to see Niagra, is this possible in just a morning from TO? or a late afternoon? I am only there overnight you see, but do arrive in very early. any tips appreciated...............ie how to get there (I will not have a car/cost of the falls etc) Thanks! |
Re: Niagra falls
It's just about feasible, you wouldn't be there very long though....
I'd probably say it's not worth it tbh.... |
Re: Niagra falls
There are day trips advertised from Toronto. They may span too long a period though. There are Greyhound buses...journey between 1h.40 and 2h.10.
You could do it...but you'd need a taxi between bus stop- Falls-bus stop to make sure you don't waste time waiting for the local bus. In 1975 I went by train from Toronto in the morning, returning late afternoon. That gave us time to see the falls and ride the Maid of the Mist. |

Hiya
Its approx 80miles if I remember right and it took us just over 1hr 30mins in the car, if you couldve car hired then maybe? but I doubt it'd be worth it with public transport. You could do the CN Tower? or just shop? |

Re: Niagra falls
I suppose it would be churlish of me to mention that it is spelled Niagara Falls, rather than your version.
I believe Viagra Falls can be less than 30 minutes in Toronto, if that helps at all. |

Take her on the ferry to Centre Island. There's a great kiddies' playground there and a petting zoo. I believe all you pay is for the ferry ride. Taking a 5 year old up the tower is really a waste of money. I doubt she would really appreciate it.
The ferry ride sounds fun........... |

Ok thanks. She loves the needle in Seattle, (my boyfriend is from there) so, I figured she may like it, but the CN Tower is soooooooo expensive!
The ferry ride sounds fun........... We often take visitors to Niagara. We drive, take the Maid of the Mist, cross the border and go into the Cave of the Winds. After hundreds of trips and trying everything we think this the best bang for the buck. We then drive to Niagara on the Lake for dinner. That's a full day. |

Kids love the glass floor in the CN Tower. Worth the money, dunno,I think so but it's marginal.

I want to go to Niagara, but I am only there for a day inbetween flights, so it may not be worth it. Thanks for the reply! |

I would do it. I'd drive along the top on the main tourist road, stop, peer over and get splashed, take the Maid of the Mist and go back to the airport. It'll fit and when else will you get a chance to see the falls?
Couldn't agree more.:) Who cares if it's touristy? It's touristy because it's a magnificent sight (and sound). It's easy to ignore the gaudy aspects of the town. |
Re: Niagra falls
hello!
coincidentally, we are stopping off in TOR (altho for a whole week) on the way to BC from the UK. friends have impressed upon me that a trip to the falls, is as essential as a trip to one of the world's natural wonders would suggest it to be. also i have been told that the best introduction to them is by train; it doesn't take too long to get there and then you have a 30 minute walk along the water side with their grandeur gradually coming into view. (this is at least what i have been told.... and i am defo gonna be looking into it) and apparently the town of niagra is not worth spending much / any time on. |

Much better than the CN Tower, but each to their own |
