The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) apologizes for the inconvenience you’ve experienced. Due to a system error you were able to book an interview at a closed NEXUS Enrolment Centre. We are aware of this system error and are actively looking to resolve the issue for members that were affected by it.
As NEXUS is a joint program between Canada and the United States, each country independently reviews each member’s renewal and can approve, deny or revoke membership based on their domestic law. We have reached out to the United States Customs and Border Protection (USCBP) in regards to your membership and as a result your renewal has been approved. You are no longer required to attend an interview and should receive your new NEXUS card in the mail shortly.â€

I was impressed by the notification a few days ago about the renewal. I was bowled over to received an apology this morning.

Received the new NEXUS card. 
We were planning to spend the remaining winter months somewhere warm…but not sure now. 😢

There is a review on google reviews of a week ago of someone going to that centre and getting their interview done, so my fingers are crossed. Just hoping the border isn't closed again by the time I have to go.
Yay! That was a fast turnaround on the new card.
I got this update from NEXUS the other day.

I was thinking of going somewhere warm for NYE but decided against that. Thinking of a Feb. trip though, only thing will stop me is if they re-introduce 14 day quarantine. I will go back to Malta/Europe in summer, even with quarantine.
This travel restriction business is really getting old. I got vaccinated to return to a normal life, that hasn't seemed to happen. Makes me wary of boosters if they aren't truly going to help end the pandemic.

Argh. I know they extended validity of memberships for 2 years but this is just annoying.
