Is it usually so difficult to schedule the NEXUS interview? I looked today and the next available interview at Pearson is 3 February, which is over 2 months away.

Usually the airport enrolment centres are busier plus they are probably still backlogged from the US government shut down earlier in the year. Keep an eye out for a cancellation or else try and use one of the non-airport centres, sometimes they have quicker availability.

I'm told if you go to the border by Buffalo/Niagara it can be quicker but is it worth the 4 hour+ round trip?
Nexus is great by the way. Totally worth the money.

IIRC, you can reschedule your appointment online - lots of people do this, and typically slots open up as folk shuffle their appointments around (particularly if you're trying to get a set of appointments for a family lined up).
If you can do Fort Erie, it's definitely work working in a quick hop across the bridge - visit the Albright-Knox museum, get groceries (and beer you can't get at the LCBO) at Wegmans (we've declared a couple of mixed six-packs on trips like this and never had an issue - usually along with a couple of hundred dollars of shopping in total). You could always head across to Lewiston and hit the outlet mall, and come back over the Queenston Bridge.

Yep 2-3 months is normal. The upside is you don't need to do it again upon renewal.

Thanks all for the feedback.
Got the invitation back in early October and was offered an appointment the following week, which unfortunately wasn’t convenient - if I’d realized such a speedy option was unlikely to appear again, I would have rescheduled my other commitment
