hi all , been lurking around the site for about a week now and was wondering if anyone can help me 'translate' my uk job title into a canadian job title.
I am currently employed as a multi skilled maintenance fitter (electrically biased) in a food factory here in the uk.
I am a time served fitter with 20 years experience, i don't have a degree.
I have also worked on film extrusion and bagging.
Am interested in looking to make the move to Canada, not sure where yet that obviously depends on the job prospects.
thanks for any replies
Chris

From: Blackpool for now, Ontario calling!!

Hi Chris, welcome to the site.
The Canadians call fitters millwrights. Have a search on workopolis.com
http://www.workopolis.com/work.aspx?...chId=863218834
This link will give you a search for Millwrights in Canada. I am also a timeserved Fitter and have noticed there is quite a lot of vacancies advertised around the Toronto area (but then I haven't looked anywhere else so can't comment on other provinces).
Good luck
Mark

I know there is quiet a few jobs in alberta, my OH just managed to help someone get into his place of work.
If you are looking at alberta have a look at http://www.tradesecrets.gov.ab.ca/in...ex_content.asp

Many thanks for your replies and the links,
have looked at both of the sites and some employers seem to want you to have a millwright certificate
Do i need one of these and if so..... how and who do i apply to.
Is it possible to get a job without one... we are looking into the Nova Scotia area at the moment.
thanks
Chris
