Default new zoom?

Just received an email from go travel direct and it looks suspiciously like Zoom/
http://www.gotraveldirect.com/index....=dspSplashPage

I wonder if they will be giving free tickets or discounts to the people inconvenienced by zoom.

It was announced today that ZOOM, or a form thereof, is back in business. I just overheard it mentioned during the lunchtime news but didn't get details before the segment was over.

New headquarters to be in Kingston Ont apparently...

Remains to be seen how competitive and widespread the restructured business will be.

I think that GO Travel has got a hold of Zoom's customer list.

http://www.marketwire.com/press-rele...ns-937737.html

According to a Winnipeg article they'll be using Finnair Boeing 757 aircraft

Edit: It seems there might be two stories out there.

It does appear that Zoom is set to fly again this year.

I don't think I'd touch anything with the name Zoom.

I think there are thousands out there who feel the same way.

Perhaps that's why they are changing the focus of the airline from a "long haul budget airline" to a "premium-value airline" whatever that is, according to this article http://www.alternativeairlines.com/a...cs=214&cs=3447

A news item on the local CBC radio station here in St John's this morning was that Gotravel.com are establishing a summer direct flight from St Johns to Gatwick. Thats a big deal here as Air Canada <spits> canned their direct flight a couple of years ago. They then re-instated it when Astreaus put a summer flight on to force them out of the route prior to canning it again once Astreaus pulled out. It'll be interesting to see what happens this time.

are there any good (and dare i say reasonably priced) domestic carriers in Canada....?

right now, looking at $200+ for a return flight between Vancouver and Calgary, is making me wish for the days of RyanAir *spits*:curse:

$200 is cheap for an internal flight. There are two primary carriers in Canada - AC and Westjet. Smaller population than UK spread out over a far larger area. Expensive airline travel is a fact of life in Canada.

Yes Zoom went under, but the timing and circumstances were not their fault. They were in the process of restructuring and refinancing, turning everything around again, when some creditors decided to pull the plug and causing a ripple effect. Yes the Zoom management was to blame for letting their debt build up (though it wasn't exactly to huge levels), but they were in the process of fixing it. Timing and circumstances are due to the creditors, not Zoom.
