Question New to Winnipeg

Can anyone help us with what we need to do next. We have a rental property in Winnipeg, but at present in Saskatoon where my husband is doing his orientation until the 12th June 2006. We have arranged the following:-

Car/Bank Account/Manitoba Health Cards/Sin No./Dog Licence/Vets/Dog Insurance. Arranged for Tv/Wireless Internet/Phone lines to be connected.

We now need to find a Doctor/Dentist/School (14yr old). What do we do about house contents insurance. Are there other things we need to do.

Help please

Try the member list and contact them directly or wait until they reply - Biiiiink is a moderator on this site, so she's on most days.
Have only been to Winnipeg once (to visit Biiiiink) - nice place, nearest city of any size to where I am (about 5 hours drive from Red Lake).

I can help, You need to call the family doctor connection line, on 1-204-286-7111. they will provide you will details of a doctors clinic that are currently taking patients. It may not be the closest to you though.

also, do you mind me asking who your TV/Internet is with? Shaw offers 1000 free minutes to the UK per month.

MapleD covered the rest - now school depends on which area your going to and if you what public or private.

If for instance your renting in my area you could have the choice of 3 schools for a 14 year old.

1 - Maples 3 different programs -
Tec ( hands on mechanics etc)
Normal with subject choices
social or directed ( Group or individual study )

2- Garden city - French immersion & English normal - subject choices

3 Tec-Voc Technical vocation real hands on with some great courses

So which Area is the rented accommodation in?
how did you decide on that area
A: Coz the price was right for now?
B: Area is where you want to live?

When will you arrive as school is out for summer soon and there may not be much education going on.

What sports hobbies does the 14 year old have?

Deadline date for joining soccer teams for instance isn't until August 20th so could give 14yo and you a chance to meet and make new friends, find out lots of local info. re-schools, shops hanging out spots etc
