Default New Mum to Calgary

My wife and I are moving to Calgary, Tuscany area on the 4th Sept, cant wait however we have a new daughter who will be exactly 1 month old on the move.

My wife who is Canadian wants to move to, she is origanally from St Johns NFLD and has lived in the UK for 8 years. The move is perfect in so many ways and is the right thing to do but I am just worried that it has hit us just how many friends, good work colleagues and great neighbours we are going to miss, especially a we have a new born.

I am going to be working in an office with two other people who are friendly but have far different requirements and so dont really socialise, my present bunch of about 20 are just fantastic and we are one big social "family".

Can anybody give us suggestions particularly for my wife on where to go, groups etc and where to make new friends.

I think moving with babies and young children makes it much easier to make new friends. There are always groups to go to where you know you will find people with at least one thing in common.

Mine are a bit older now so I can't give any first hand advise from here but you could try these for starters:

Congratualtions & Good luck

To add to what MrsDV said .......

The Wiki article called Calgary Fun has two sections that would be of particular interest:
  • Information about Children's Activities

  • Babies and toddlers

And many congratulations on the arrival of Miss Chinook.
