Unfortunately, even before Covid your chances were slim. The rules changed a few years ago when LMO’s became LMIA’s, and with the restrictions on foreign workers sponsored jobs for truckers became rarer than hens teeth.
But worth a try! Have a look in the trucking forum for info on any possible jobs when the Covid situation (hopefully) eases. Good luck with it.

I'd recommend Googling for any international truck driver recruitment events and see if you can find anything coming up. Don't bother with anything that wants you to pay to attend though, those will almost certainly be a scam.

Plus every single person I have ever spoken with from the Philippines has used imperfect English. For example, they frequently insert particles like 'the' where they don't belong. I know I'm a grammar snob but it annoys the hell out of me.
Based on the OP's passport however, you could basically assume that a high level of English ability would be a given since we only have one official language and 98% of the population use it. Even people who routinely use Welsh or Gaelic at home will also have native English ability.

Let's keep this on topic please and not disseminate on the language skills of different cultures and countries - the OP wants to move back to Canada, remember? Thanks.
There appear to be a lot of jobs around (1,888 results for long haul truck driver ) so it might be worth going through and seeing if any would be prepared to sponsor or apply for an LMIA for a work permit.

Edited to add - don't be put off at the bit at the bottom that says "Anyone who can legally work in Canada can apply for this job. If you are not currently authorized to work in Canada, the employer will not consider your job application." - it appears on every job opportunity, every type of work.. it appears to be auto generated by jobbank. Perhaps check the employer website and do a little research.

Yes, that happens in the tech sector as well. A few years ago recruiters mostly in Atlantic Canada were sending scouts to the US, UK, France and a few parts of Asia to recruit people because they couldn't find suitable local talent. These days those events are almost certainly going to be virtual so if they are running them for truck drivers then you're as good as anyone else, if not better because you'll certainly have English ability under your belt, you've done the job in Canada before, and I would have thought your license would be easier to convert. It would also be easier to secure you the ability to drive into secure institutions and cross the US border than it would be for an Indian, Philopena etc.

I'd suggest going to each company's website and researching them to see if they have offered LMIA's / sponsorship in the past.. you never know!

You'll be able to smell the dodgy ones from a mile away though because they'll likely offer you a job with virtually no prior process and then start asking you for money, often in rather questionable English from what I've seen on other forum posts. I don't think they're really aimed at people from the UK if you catch my drift.
