New doctors in Belleville / Quinte area
#1
Good news for those in my area without a family doctor.
I heard on the radio today that 2 new family doctors will soon be relocating to Belleville and will be taking on patients.
A LIMITED number of application forms will be available from both the Chamber of Commerce (the log cabin by the river on moira street, between front and pinnacle) or from the QHC belleville general hospital, starting at 10am THURSDAY.
I expect they will run out quickly. Completing a form does not guarantee acceptance as a patient.

all 400 applications gone in 15 minutes at the CoC. It took twice that long at the hospital!
I suppose thats as good an indication of the shortage of family doctors as any.

It wouldnt surprise me if people here did (although obviously not in February this time). There is no parking near the CoC for 400 people, so they must have been queing for a while to get through 400 applications in quarter of an hour. Thats quite efficient for canadians innit
Makes me realise how lucky we were to be picked up in the Trenton Lottery, and to have a good doctor now....also one who has some expereince rather than just having left med school to start practice like the two new ones in this case.

Since then he has misdiagnosed and generally screwed up with a collegue, her husband (missed a hernia), and one of her kids. Shes currently off for at least 6 weeks after having 30some gallstones removed...according to him the pain was all in her head because he couldnt find anything wrong! He totally dismissed our kids digestive problems as an "oversensitive" mother too. Its a minefield.

We had one so bad that we abandoned him for the vaguaries of the urgent care / emerg system.

He's old enough to know better, 50s? late 40s?. Hes very laid back and a nice guy, but he was way too dismissive on occasions. Complaints were made.

The words "laid back" are often used in the write-ups on my former GP in Oakville. They appear to be code for "doesn't seem to give a shit".
