We really liked it. It is quite rural but the cities have everything you need. We would like to settle somewhere in the greater Moncton area.
possibly somewhere near the sea.
We made friends while we were out there. They have 2 grown up children living in Shediac which is quite french, but they and their partners don't speak french, and we cetainly didn't find it an issue.
If you are looking at Fredericton then french speeking shouldn't be a problem.
Out of interest are there any more NB hopefuls or anyone there already. We seem to be quite a quiet bunch on the forum.

I am so please to hear that there are some people that consider moving to New Brunswick. We visited NB in August for some research. I dont know how we come up with NB, we just did. We didnt have a clue where to start so we ended up driving from Halifax aiport towards NB and made a first step at Moncton and that was it. We ended up buying a piece of land about 15mins from moncton in newly built subdivision by the Peticoudiac river. It all happened pretty fast. But after speaking to lots of canadians and also british expats, we decided that living near Moncton was the right choice for us.
Could you tell me more about the business PNP? We will be soon applying through the same program so it would be great to know a few more details.
Thanks.

The best place to look is on www.gnb.ca as it gives you all the info on the PNP both for business or skilled worker.
You say that you have already bought land, you must be pretty confident of getting a visa.
We have been over for an interview and have looked at property, but will only buy once we have the visa.
We are waiting for an answer from NB any day. After that we will still have to wait for the Canadian government to aprove the applicationa and send us for medical etc.
So it could be a few months yet.
Let us know how you get on.

nice to hear from you. How long did it take you to get the interview? What did actually happen at the interview? Did you go to Fredericton or the other two big cities (St.John,Moncton)?
I know buying a land without having visa is very risky but we saw the location and knew if we dont buy now it would be gone. It is a very sought after area so if the worst was to happen we shouldnt have a problem selling the land and actually make money on it.It is 9acre land by the river and the estate agent said those lots are the biggest thing in NB at the moment.
Could I be nosy and ask what you are intend to do there for business?

The gnb website gives you their timelines. So far it has been pretty accurate.
After we submitted our business evaluation form it took about 5 weeks to be given an interview date.
Interviews are conducted at the Government building in Fredericton.
We visited Fredericton, St John and Moncton while we were there.
Like you we like Moncton best. We hope to buy a hobby farm and run a gift shop with a country theme (jam, fudge gifts etc). Also will have some animals to attract people (llamas, ponies, goats and the like).
If we buy in the right location we will have some holiday cabins.
The interview is only really the begining. After that you have to fill in all the more detailed forms and the government immigration forms. So in addition to the NB Gov timeline, there is the time spent compiling the application itself.
We started all this in March 2005 and we are now at the point where NB are considering our application.

The beauty of Canada is...if you dont like it..you can move, its big enough for all of you and we all look for different things. I lived 26 years in Edmonton and just decided to pack up and move closer to England, so I chose Nova Scotia..economically a bad choice but I love it here, I'll figure out a way to make it work....you have to give a place "time" and put in the effort.
Dont let the "French" thing bother you..Hey..why not learn it! Maritimers are very friendly people...once you make friends you'll be home. GOOD LUCK
