Hello
We've been in the queue for a skilled worker visa for about three years, but I only discovered this site today.
I'm married, in my thirties, and with two young kids. Husband works in market research and I do artyfarty stuff three days a week. We live in St Albans but work in London.
I'm runningonfumes because like a lot of people that is how we feel most of the time. We plan to move to either Calgary or Vancouver because after several trips they look the most likely places to be able to find jobs on the west of Canada.
WIKI looks cool.
Good to meet ya.
Jo

Hi Jo,
A very warm welcome to BE. You almost made us feel nostalgic there...almost. We moved here to Okotoks (just south of Calgary) last October from...St Albans!
We lived on the south side of the city...off Watling View/Holyrood Crescent. You'll have to go look at our old house for us and let us know if the new guy has taken it apart! Whereabouts are you? You sound quite far along in the process...have you had update letters or medical requests yet? If not, fingers crossed they will come soon.
Our blog (link is in the signature line below) will give you a little reminder of life in and around Calgary and the Rockies...at least in the way we experience it.
Kind regards,
Eamonn & Janet.

I know the area well, but we live just outside St A.
Good to know that others got out alive.....and made it to the other side.
We've had update letters but no request for medicals yet.
Thanks for the blog info Getting There, will take a look. We've been to both Calgary and Vancouver but a lot will depend on jobs.

Thanks for the welcome, I'm interested in the experiences of anyone who's got little tots, taken them to Canada, and how they've fared.
Cheers, Jo xxx

Looking at your past posts, we can see that you are going down the PR route but that Mr Magnumpi (does he look like Tom Selleck then!) has gone and got himself a job in Toronto - good for you! As for how long between meds and getting the Passport Request, we don't think there is any standard timeframe. In our particular case, the meds were complicated but even still, it was maybe only 5-6 weeks between the medical file being sent off and the PPR landing on the doormat. Fingers crossed it'll be soon and you can get on your way.
Best wishes,
Eamonn & Janet.

Hey welcome.
I am in Calgary and have been here 2.5 yrs. Moved from a village just south of Nottingham, but I am originally from N Yorks.
If you need any help/advice about Calgary let me know.
Only things I know about St Albans is that it has Roman connections and that there is a Vet school near there (I applied to it but didn't get in). Think I passed through once or twice though.

Thanks all. It's Sunday and I'm still thinking about the financial markets and house prices. I think I need a glass of something.
