A new addition to our family!
We've been and gone and purchased a puppy - a black and white male Siberian Husky, currently only 2 weeks old! We bring him home on May 12th, one week after we've moved into our new home - can't wait!

We'd already thought of that as we've been thinking about buying a husky for a long time. Anyway, he'll be called Nixon. He'll be Kennel Club registered as well so I presume he's going to get a poncy name as well!

I've never had a dog before but my husband has - a border collie and an alsation. We're aware that's he going to be hard work and need lots of exercising and training but we're prepared to put in a lot of effort to have ourselves an enjoyable companion. Luckily we both have jobs that mean we can take the dog into work so he won't be on his own and will get plenty of walks - hopefully I might lose my spare winter tyre!

He's really gorgeous, bet you cant wait. I remember Raven (our lab) as a puppy and she could even get through a cat flap, thats her now.....big lump but the most affectionate dog you could have. She'll hopefully be coming with us.l

I think there are others on here who have had huskies and may comment.
My friend has them for sledding, which is a bit different to pets, but I believe a feature will be that you'll find them really different to either a border collie or an alsation (both VERY smart and trainable) in terms of biddability (is that a word?) They are very strong, and LOVE to run!
Good Luck!

Congratulation!
Everything has really fallen into place for you, also congratulations on your new home!
We have 2 dogs that are coming with us, we promised ourselves we wouldn't get anymore............Mmmm not sure about that now. It's a great feeling to wake up early on a crisp cold morning and go for a nice long walk. You'll love it!
Best Wishes to you all.

Re: A new addition to our family!
Congratulations on your new addition! I bet you'll be counting down the hours till you pick him up!
We have six alaskan malamutes, (also sled dogs), and look like a bigger version of a siberian husky!
They are very similar in nature, but mals are slightly more laid back! Mine are currently sprawled out in the Kitchen and dining room snoring! But they do like their exercise as well. We go to working rallies over here, so know loads of people with sibes.
Any way, I wish you load of luck!

Congratulations on your new addition. He looks adorable.
We got a German shepherd X Austrailian Sheepdog last summer.
He has been very energetic, willful, a bit possessive and also completely adorable too. We have had to work hard with him to overcome some of his inherant tendencies. But he is coming on nicely now.
He has the Princess Diana eyes that he likes to flutter when he wants to win you over.
Anyway we have had great fun with him and would hate to be parted from him.
I hope your new puppy gives you as much fun as ours has.
