Tin Star (filmed in Cochrane and High River, Alberta)

Fargo - for the landscape and set, not Canadian stories (filmed in and around Calgary)

There's also the amazingly surreal documentary "The Maple Syrup Heist":

Coach's Corner...please no. Forcing would be emigrants to watch Don Cherry would solve any issues Canada has with too many immigrants 'coming to Canada and stealing jobs we didn't want anyway'.

Sure, Don Cherry is an *rse, but the interplay with Ron is very funny and Don is simply not wrong about hockey!

......scenery in films, could also try 'Rambo - First Blood' (filmed in and around Hope, BC). And Brokeback Mountain (filmed in and around Kananaskis, AB)

I found this hour has 22 minutes to be a good intro into what topics Canadian make fun of themselves for. The comedy is very CBC, i.e. sanitized but having an idea of what the go and no-go areas are helps. Unfortunately don't think it is on Netflix but might find some clips on you tube

I would have to recommend Deadpool. Shot in Vancouver! I was on the bridge opposite a few years ago they were filming.

I don't think they're on Netflix, but if you'd consider moving to the Prairies you might want to look at some of Guy Maddin's movies. Not so much because they show you a lot about life in Canada (except Tales From The Gimli Hospital, about Icelandic Canadians in a late 19th century smallpox epidemic), but they show you what living in Manitoba for decades does to your brain.

Well, for that matter almost anything on CW or SyFy is probably filmed in BC or Toronto It's kinda weird now watching 'older' shows (if I can say that about ones from the mid to late '00s) and going "That's Granville bridge. That's Burrard. That's UBC. That's Vancouver library" which I had no idea about at the time

There was one movie filmed in Vancouver back in the 90s I believe, that had palm trees put up around the (old) Student's Union at UBC to make it look like somewhere in California

Then there was the one being made in the '80s that managed to set fire to and completely burn down a (real) mansion about to be put on the Historic Register, on a street somewhere between W49th and W59th near Granville. The fire was supposed to be set in front of the house, so it only appeared to burn down ............. oops!

Haha - well, at least they tried When Stargate SG-1 did external shots of "Colorado Springs" for eg characters' homes.... now having been to both Colo Springs & Vancouver, I don't understand how they thought the proportion of green was remotely believable. Considering they did filming in the interior, why they didn't just take a few establishing shots of towers and houses in Kelowna or Penticton, where at least the amount of brown would have been a bit closer...

Canada seems to be losing its place as the cheap country to film in, though. The new Tremors movie is set in Canada... but shot in South Africa.
