I dont think there is an expiration? its validated when you land. If there is it will be on the paperwork. If you required a medical for the permit that might be the limiting factor but most people dont. However, your sponsoring employer will have other ideas, when do they expect you to get started?

In Ontario and several other provinces (all except AB?) there is a three month wait until you are elligable for provincial health care coverage. Private insurance for that waiting period is STRONGLY recomended. You employer may be pursuaded to pay for it, otherwise there is a list of providers on the settlement.org pages.

My WP was valid for 1 year from the day I arrived in Canada and not from the day it was issued.
