need urgent help and info

does anyone know from when you get your work visa how long is it that you have to be in canada,and is it right that you have to have 3 months health insurance aswell.as we have just received our work permit and we havent sold the house yet and really we need to do that before we go.I do hope someone can help.thanks

In Ontario and several other provinces (all except AB?) there is a three month wait until you are elligable for provincial health care coverage. Private insurance for that waiting period is STRONGLY recomended. You employer may be pursuaded to pay for it, otherwise there is a list of providers on the settlement.org pages.

I dont think there is an expiration? its validated when you land. If there is it will be on the paperwork. If you required a medical for the permit that might be the limiting factor but most people dont. However, your sponsoring employer will have other ideas, when do they expect you to get started?
