Red face Need some advice

We have got a job offer in place and paperwork has been in since January this year. The CIC have asked for confirmation of the job offer twice now, once in April and again in September. We have had nothing else and its now 9 months with no sign of getting any further. Although we have a file number, we never received it officially in the post. How much longer does anyone think it will be before we get medical requests? All the waiting is really frustrating and i just want to get my life back. Any advice or reassuring words would be very much appreciated!

While I am not sure this is an option ? If some one has a Job offer, can't they come in work permit and then proceed with PR. This way the earlier migration could be very encouraging to the final move.

I believe there is one another thread discussing immigration concerns in a more detailed manner than this thread. You could also try posting this here http://britishexpats.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=33 .. Before I immigrate, I used to post there often.

Welcome to the forum, josiejo202.

Have you applied for a temporary work permit? I didn't think medical exams were required for work permits in most cases. Usually they're required for permanent residence (PR) visa applications.

Still, that's a long time to be waiting for a work permit. Several members of the forum have waited many months for their work permits to come through, but your wait seems longer than most.

If, on the other hand, you have applied for PR and if you are hoping for your PR application to be speeded up by an Arranged Employment Opinion (AEO), then I think your timeline is reasonable compared with other posters' timelines that I've seen. The word around the forum is that a PR application backed up by AEO often is granted in under a year. But it still is under a year for you, right?

With that said, I'm not an immigration expert. In pointing you to the Canadian Immigration forum, jagz gave you good advice.

Good luck with your visa and your move.

Thanks for the advice, we have applied for permanant residency. It's reassuring to know that we are still within the timeline. Mind you, you would think that the CIC would find a quicker way to get people through as there is such a shortage of skilled labour there. We have been to Calgary twice this year and both times have come accross businesses that work on short hours due to lack of staff. I have got two 15 year olds that despeartly want to go to work. My husband wants to get there and get on with it too.
Has anyone else been asked for the same information twice? We were asked for confirmation on how we got the job offer in April and then asked for the same infomation in September. The good side to that being they must be happy with everything else.
I'm probably like everyone esle on the waiting list, want reassurance and frustrated.

I would strongly suggest to your 15 year olds that they give school in Canada a try ..... it is SO different from in the UK, and they'll end up with FAR better jobs after graduating from high school!

If they try it, don't like it, and drop out anyway, they won't have lost anything .... there'll always be jobs at McDonalds/Tim Hortons/Dairy Queen ......
