Hi everyone, I just registered and hope someone on this forum can offer advice. I am married to a dual British and Canadian citizen and we live in Ontario Canada. My wife's 84 yr old mother lives alone in the UK with no family support and we are thinking of moving her over to Canada. My questions are can we move her over here to Canada for the long term and what is the process? Will she have health care coverage in Canada? Any help or guidance will be greatly appreciated.\
Thank you

Hi there, if you look at the blue bar at the top there is a section called the WIKI. You need to search for family sponsorship.
HOWEVER sponsoring parents is taking a few years right now, so the Canadian government have just introduced a supervisa for parents that - whilst it doesn't mean that they are permanent residents, they can come to stay for prolonged periods.
They will have to provide their own health insurance though.
Do a search on the immigration seaction for "parent supervisa" and "parental sponsorship".
That should give you information you need to start with.

As an aside parent sponsorship has been "suspended" for 2 years as of 04/11/11.
