Anyone out there used Napster since its 'cleaned up' its act? I'm currently using Limewire and Pilot but they're not anywhere near as comprehensive as I would like ( of course!) . I'd appreciate any Napster thoughts or alternatively is there a UK freebe site I can play with??

This is not a "dig" at you because I use the free Limewire too. But if I wanted to download loads and loads of music, I would pay for the Napster one probably. Or maybe I would pay for the Limewire version.

If your happy to pay for your music why not go with one of the big music download sites that have plenty of choice such as itunes, if you want to be a rebel and get it for free, personally, I use bittorrent via torrentspy.com using the ABC client, there are plenty of others or one of the Usenet client but you need a really good and comprehensive news archive.

I'm not up-to-date with the latest p2p software but one that I tried out which pulled quite a lot of mp3's was Shareaza so that might be worth looking at. I listen to mainly bootlegs so It's impossible finding them on pay sites, so much so that I have myself started "stealth" recording concerts.

. I'm of a mind that if Limewire is so unreliable on the free install then is it actually going to be any better if I pay for it? Methinks probably not but to give you an idea of what's happening with mine.... I have 68 tracks waiting. Most are waiting on more sources even though they were available when I clicked on them and started to download. I deleted a load of them a few days ago as they've been sitting there for over a month and I've been completely unable to download them. I'm assuming this site is mainly a US site as there's not a lot of the UK oldie stuff I actually installed it for in the first place. I didn't want to just pay willy nilly for another one without knowing what they have available ...give you an example...Jealous Mind, Alvin Stardust - Tiger Feet, Mud - Hold Back the Night, Tramps. Well you get the idea, not popular buy todays standards but I like them but you can see why I don't want to fork out without being fairly sure that I can actually get most of this stuff.
It may be that it'll be cheaper to buy a record player (although the blokie at Future Shop imperiously said "oh we don't sell those anymore") and convert them myself - certainly quicker by the experiences I'm having at the moment.
Bright ideas certainly welcome
