Hey all. My wife and I are flying out to Ontario in Feb 2013 but before we get there we thought it might be an idea to learn the Candian "Highway Code" if you like. I've tracked the book down on line and it is "The Official MTO Driver's Handbook 2012". The only problem is I can't seem to get any site to sell me one and ship it the UK. Does anybody know how I can get my hands on one of these books???Cheers All

Its available to browse through online...
http://www.mto.gov.on.ca/english/dan...ok/index.shtml
There is pdf of the 2009 version here:
http://www.mto.gov.on.ca/english/dan...ok/index.shtml
Stick with the online version, the pdf is an old one and may not include recent offences such as not pulling over to the other lane when passing emergency vehicles parked with their lights on and recent handsfree legislation.

No, Amazon.ca won't ship it to the UK. I've had a look at the on line one which is okay but I was rather hoping to get my hands on an actual copy (old fashioned of me I know). Thanks anyway.

You don't need to learn the highway code...seems like none of the drives here follow it anyway! I have never seen so many people run red lights and stop signs in my life!

I'd just print out the pdf then, I cant see much difference between the 2009 and 2012 versions anyway, the basics certainly havent changed.

All you need to know..is that you can turn right on a red light..most of the time..you can overtake and undertake and use any lane you like...trucks and trailers can use the outside lane..and they do all the f***ing time!...you dont need to indicate when turning or changing lanes or say thank you for somebody letting you pass...you can do your make up, eat sandwiches, drink coffee, text and make calls at the wheel while supping a case of bud at the same time...that's the basics anyway.

Also you forgot!
You need to accelerate as quick as you can, then slam on the breaks right behind people at all stops, get right up in their bum, as well as texting while you do this

You lot need to move out of the city before the stress of driving kills you.
There are a few non indicators around here, but generally its smooth sailing

I live in Guelph! Hahaha! Not sure it is the city, but driving a Manual car, with Automatics revving right up my bum really does stress me out. I think I need to just walk haha!

Cheers all for the replies. If nothing else I've had a good laugh finding out how everybody else drives. I think I'll buy myself an automatic with a giant accelerator pedal and a short braking distance. Also fitted with no cup holders and extra mirrors for grooming!!

WTF man are you crazy no cup holders? How will you secure the Big Gulp, Slurpee or X Large triple triple Timmies while motoring down the 401 at warp speed.
