Moving to Vancouver
Hi all,
I have just found this site and so far i'm very impressed with what people have said in response and the helpful info given.Anyway myself and my wife and son aged 6 are in the early stages of emmigrating.We are using a company called Pahl & Associates who have been very helpful as they will be sorting out everything for us.
I have posted this as it is always good to find people how can help with questions that you might need help with.
We have looked around and have chosen Vancouver as the place that we want to go to.We are going there on a recce trip in Jan on the 1st of all days but that is the only time we can go due to work.
First of all i'am a electrician and i would like to know how i go about carrying on in this field because i do know that canada work on a different voltage than us and i dont know if i will need to take an equivalency exam.I have been a sparky for for 15 years.If there are any other sparkies on here could you give me a rough idea on how much i could expect to be payed as i would like to know what size mortgage i could get.
Any help would be very much appreciated and i will post any more questions as they come to us.

In my experience electricians in the BC's interior charge themselves out anywhere from $35 to $50 p/hr, the difference being whether it's light residential or commerical work.

my partner came over to work for cef over here after a promotion, he has met an electrician who came out with his family the day after us and basically to get full electrical license in vancouver you pretty much have to do the last year of your apprenticship again, failing that you could work for a non-union company under there license but you would only see about $20-$25 an hour
