Default Moving from UK to Canada

Hi

My wife (Teacher) and I (IT Engineer) have plucked up the courage and decide we would like to migrate to Canada.

We've just completed our Canadian immigration application.
Has anyone any idea how long it will be before I can expect to get a response?

Is there any one who is also moving from UK to Canada?

From initial pplication at least a year from all accounts - possibly as much as 2 years. Loads of people emigrate each year from the UK to Canada you've come to the right website. Try also the canadian immmigration forum

Hi

Our application is an inland spousal - hubby is immigrating into Canada from the UK. We unfortunately had our application in during the PR card deadlines and ended up having to wait 7.5 months until AIP. We're now waiting for the RCMP fingerprint check, which are backlogged up to 5 months. From what we've read on sites such as this one, there doesn't seem to be a lot of consistency from immigration, as some uncomplicated applications take longer than others. I agree with Ray... think approximately a year for your application to process ... if it's earlier than that .... Wonderful!!!

The best of luck in your endeavours!

Ray, do you have an approximate number of Britons who immigrate to Canada per year?

Apologies, not addressed to me.

Hello My family and I, my husband and three children, are emigrating next month to Burnaby, BC. Don't want to make you miserable but be prepared for a long wait. We started this process back in February 2002, yes 2002..... after submitting our papers in October 2002, we did not hear a word until December 2003 and we were then told we have been accepted and to go for medicals and skip the interview. Don't give up though and don't let anyone put you off, although you will probably feel like we do, that it takes a hell of long time, during which you wonder if you will ever hear anything from the Canadian High Commission. Are you dealing with this process application yourself or are you using a company such as Four Corners etc. We have used them and it has help to some degree? Good luck and hope to hear from you.

For skilled worker class applications, the wait (as of last month) was approximately 22-24 months.

This is growing by one month, every month, at present. With the low points requirements currently, CHC London are taking approximately 3,000 applications a month and can only process 1,500.

We submitted ours this weekend, compiled ourselves, hence are expecting medical requests (if we're succesful) some time in Spring 2006.

As for the original question about an initial response, if you're referring to the application of receipt (AOR), this should take one to three months from the date of submission.

Cheers and best of luck, Iain

I've seen 2003 (but cannot find a link ) that the Brits are now #8 (for country of source for immigrants to Canada)

The figures surprised me. I had assumed - although I don't know why - that Britain would be a larger source of immigrants.

It was when Canada was a colony but things have changed!
