I am sure so many people have done this. We are contemplating whether it's a good idea or not, but regardless of the kids "having to adapt mid year" part... can I get some advice on the logistics.
- Could you apply and secure a position before you move (before you have a local address at the new province)
- If we are happy to wait till September for this, can you apply before the move? want to avoid 3 months in one school, and change again

Remember that each province governs its own education, so there could be quite a difference between what your child has been learning in school A vs what is taught in school B.
So it isn't just a matter of child going into a settled group, but also how different the syllabus is.
I can see a child unhappy because they can't "break" into the group, and also getting desperate because they don't understand what is being taught.
Also, if BC is anything to go by, and especially if you are looking at cities, there were so many kids wanting to enter school whether that be at kindie level or high school that even kids in the school catchment area were unable to attend the school and had to try to cross school boundaries to find a school that had space.
