Hello everyone first time post,
My family and I are moving to Alberta in Oct, I am a truck driver and already have a job waiting for me when i arrive.
I will be working out of Calgary but we would prefer a more sedate pace and are looking to live within the Mountain View County area, possibly Olds or Didsbury. Any info on these areas would be greatly appreciated, in fact we are open to any advice that any of you may have.
Thanks

Welcome to the forum, Modo66.
Years ago my younger brother came over here from Swaziland (Africa) for a year, and studied at Olds Agricultural College.
I think the area would provide a nice lifestyle for someone who likes a sedate pace.
Something that might affect your decision is whether or not your are bringing your 17-year-old and 16-year-old children with you. (Sorry, I don't mean to appear nosey. I do check out new posters' signatures. If they have provided a bit of information about themselves, it helps to tailor advice to their needs, as this case illustrates.)
Anyway, if your children will be accompanying you to Canada, I don't know if their tastes are the same as yours, i.e., whether or not they too would like a small town.
That is the only factor that would give me pause for thought. Otherwise, I'd be inclined to say, "Go for it."
All the best.

Thanks Judy
My 16 yr old daughter lives in Vitis, Austria with her boyfriend and his family but my 17yr old son (Adam) will be coming with us. He has been looking at SAIT college and understands that he may need to go back to school to accumulate the credits he needs. We live in the countryside here in the UK and he isn`t a city person, and tends to like peace and quiet of small town life.
