Re: Moving to Nova Scotia

Yep, we arrive on the flight with them and meet the vet at cargo to pass them as fit. I don't know if you've seen the beaks of greenwing macaws, but I wouldn't fancy getting on the wrong side of them !! They don't bite us as they are all really tame, but friends and family have come a cropper when they try to get too familiar lol

They are used to visiting people with us by car, so travelling with them is normal. It's just the noise when the plane engines get going that frightens me about their whole journey. Fingers crossed xx

Corky,

The parrots are all travelling cargo - nightmare to sort out their paperwork, we were easy to get visa's for in comparison!

We are over beginning of May to have our house passed for quarantine, then we land 26th June. I CAN'T WAIT !!!!

Perhaps we will have to all have a meet up in a few months, we'll have to hire out a hall at this rate

Rachel

Cant you fly to Africa/South America and let them go?Probably happier flying around free than going to cold Canada.
Sorry just couldnt resist

:rofl::rofl: Eve

Seeing as they were all born and bred in Lancashire, I think they might find it a bit hot lol

Especially seeing as the macaws originate from South America and live in the cool of the tree shade;)

I hope they will be fine. Are they all going to be in the one cage for company? Can't wait to see them and I will keep my fingers to myself.

Have you been introduced to ontheboatout? :sneaky:

Cage each, unfortunately, they all hate each other. This is typical for many hand reared parrots, as they are so "humanised" and see us as their flock, and the others they are jealous of as we make a fuss and play with them all.! They all play out together in the same room, but they don't sit next to each other or anything.

I have ordered tham all a huge cage each, got quite carried away actually lol. They are upstairs now in their cages, our grey is shouting "Ray, want a brew Ray?", and Max is bellowing "Hi Max, good booooooy, Tickle his belly" and laughing like a demented little boy! They have me in stitches, so yes I too hope they will all look on the adventure the same as us:unsure:

going to get them all up to play now, Max is shouting Peep, peeper so he must be able to see someone outside the front window:rofl:

I think as part of quarantine, no-one can get near them for a set number of days, I think it is either 28 or 90, can't remember! I am sure the vet will tell us next month. But then you are welcome to come along and get bitten by the parrot - keeping bug:thumbsup:

We are on the south shore near Bridgewater but have been to Bridgetown several times, great pub there called the End of the Line. Also there is a fella there that makes and sells homemade sausages and sells them at the markets. Really good! We are 1 1/2 hrs drive from the Valley.

You sound like a responsible and loving owner.I just hate birds in a cage.

Good luck with your move

Re: Moving to Nova Scotia

Oh me too Eve - we are strict that they have at least five hours "playtime" every day, more at weekends. We have built them an indoor run, 2m x 1m that we "rotate" them into every lunchtime, even though their cages are huge! I spoil them rotton:rofl:

There is a parrot toy shop (honest) in Chester Corky, Oliver's Garden, so we will be visiting that regularly - we may have to meet up then :) I think that is near you?

And we love the End of the Line pub, hubby is a guitarist, so went down a storm at the "kitchen party" when we were last over in October. It should be an adventure in NS, fingers crossed xx
