I am not familiar with Nova Scotia, however there are some BE members
there who could answer your questions. Just search for Nova Scotia
and it will bring you to the NS threads.

We are moving over in June/July this year and have secured a plot of land in Muscadaboit harbour. 40km from Halifax on a lovely drive along Highway 107 which is a fairly new road which runs parallel to Highway 7. The view from the 107 is lovely as it crosses all of the estuaries and sunny of foggy gives a fantastic view. There are plenty of locations just off the 107 Porters lake is probably the largest residential area and has a small shopping area with an Atlantic food store. Plenty of outdoor activities and the schools seem very welcoming from our visits.

Your plot sounds lovely. You decided to build from scratch?
Take care and all the best.
