Hi all,
I'm moving from Manchester to Hamilton (Ontario) at the beginning of next month, partly because I have fallen for a Canadian girl and decided to see what happens (slightly crazy I know) and partly because I have some family there and fancy a change.
Just wondering if there are any other Brits in and around that area that meet up at all or if anyone fancies catching up for a few beers at some point as would be rather comforting to hear another British accent when I get there.
Cheers
Pete

Think there are a few peeps that live in or near Hamilton don't know where they have all disappeared to though! Where abouts are you going to be living? We have just bought a house in Stoney Creek, not over there yet though sorry!
Are you working when you get there?

Hi and thanks for the replies
pinkkristen - Good Luck with your move, i hope all goes well. Not sure if there's an English pub in Hamilton but there's a pub called Slainte that shows English football (thank god!). Let me know when you're over, would be nice to meet up. If there's anything I can do to help with your move then let me know
christmasoompa - I feel a bit bad because I actually have a Canadian passport (my dad's Canadian) so I guess I'm lucky and don't have to go through the visa application process
TheGrizzlyHattons - I'm actually staying on the Stoney Creek/Hamilton border when I first get there with my cousin. Congrats on the house, when are you moving over? I work in Public Relations now so looking for that or ideally a role with a charity.
Anybody else who reads this and is planning to move over then if I can be of any help (my cousin is an estate agent so could help with properties) or anything else then I'll do my best

Pete,
We moved to hamilton from Portsmouth 2 weeks ago and we are enjoying our chaotic introduction to life in Canada. When I say chaotic I mean with having no furniture and getting all the paperwork sorted.
Anyway, drop me a line.

Waiting for meds call at the moment.
I'll keep you posted.

Silverkat,
Yes we are settling in well and enjoying this part of Hamilton called Westdale. We have begun a search for jobs and the house is coming together well. We have got our driving licences and a car. Everything seems to be working out.
