I always thought Birds of a Feather was really hilarious.

And the Vicar of Dibley. The old boy who stammered all the time - he was priceless! I think he was Jim and then there was Owen - he was always making disgusting remarks!!!

Since living in England I've encountered some really good comedy that I had never seen on Canadian television; Father Ted (Irish), Spaced, Porridge, Have I Got News For You (when they're having a good night), Trigger Happy TV and (The?) Brass Eye. I also actually watch some commercials here because I like the humour in them. Some stuff I just can't relate to because I don't know the cultural references. And of course there's some real crap too. My Favourite British comedy though is Fawlty Towers :) (but that's been on Canadian TV forever).

Yeah, there is a lot of garbage TV. I actually miss all the crap in a weird sort of way. I miss getting out of bed at four in the morning and watching on the Tom Vu 'Get Rich Quick' shows, the commercials for chatlines and psychic readings, Ron Popiel spraying fake hair all over the place and wondering just how much tighter Victoria Principle's face can actually get. I've actually decided, next trip back to Canada, to make a few videos of it all to bring back with me to the UK. :D

Re: Moving a Glaswegian ...

At risk of dating myself - I always seem to find the older Brit comedies funny. I have BBC Canada and I can't remember what the "comedies" are called but there seems to be a load of twitty girls and a load of swearing, which doesn't really bother me - except I think the swearing is supposed to be the funny part and its not funny!

In fact, I signed up for digital cable at the end of August, but I am finding that I hardly watch anything on digital. Of course, I guess it would depend on what you like to watch. I did watch a really good show on people who survived the Holocaust on the Documentary channel. I will have to watch that channel more often because it seemed like there were really good things coming up. I thought it would be interesting to watch the news in Halifax, and Hamilton and Vancouver etc. etc. but I hadn't focussed on the fact that you have to tune in when the local news is on in those locations!
