Moving to Canada November 2008!!!!
Hello all, i've signed up to begin combing the forum for much needed advice on our future travels. Thought it would be polite to post a welcome message.
I'm Chris, I live in Nottingham, UK, i'm 24, in my final year at University, moving to Canada in November 2008 on a 12-month BUNAC working visa. Accompanying me will be my girlfriend, Bee, 25.
Our plan is fly to New York, train across the US and start work in Vancouver. We'll gradually work our way across to be in Toronto for the summer, and then leave November the following year to do some volunteer work in Central America.
Thank you to anyone who has taken the time to read this. We would be grateful to anyone for advice on our initial staging post-Vancouver. Jobs, accomodation, sights to see, anything would be appreciated.
Thanks again.

Hello, Chris, and welcome to the BE forum.
See the Wiki section on Job Hunting in Canada. It has many articles. I suggest you read them all.
See the Wiki article on Renting.
Since you're young, footloose and fancyfree, you may enjoy living a stone's throw from the downtown core, in the West End or Yaletown, or just beyond that in Kitsilano.
There are Wiki articles on Vancouver (which actually covers the entire metropolitan area) and North Vancouver (technically two distinct municipalities, but part of the metropolitan area).
The articles in the Canada Moving Logistics section of the Wiki may be helpful.
The Find Family Fun website was created with families in mind, but it's a terrific website for anyone of any age.
Hope that helps.
