Question Moving to Canada

Hi every body can some one give me a bit of advice. I'm a Canadian Citizen born in the UK and have never been to Canada. My wife is a Uk Citizen, what restrictions if any are there on us moving to Canada.

Hi Chris, and welcome to the forum.

There is no restriction on you moving to Canada at all, but your wife will need to be sponsored by you if you wish to move there permanently.

Have a look at the CIC website for details on how to go about it, and you can download all the forms and guide there too.

As an aside, if you've never been to Canada, it might be worth visiting first just to check it's the place for you!

Good luck.

Your wife needs a spouse visa, http://www.cic.gc.ca
She can become a Canadian citizen after a few years in Canada.

Do you have your Canadian citizenship card and Canadian passport?

It sounds like you are Canadian by descent, so you should read:
http://britishexpats.com/wiki/Canadi...hip_by_Descent

As far as moving to Canada is concerned, be aware that the fact you are a Canadian citizen does mean you won't need a visa but it also isn't going to give you any special preference in getting your skills and qualifications recognised.

Thanks for the advice I do have my passport and citizenship card. We are considering on retiring to Hope BC. A lot depends on how far our civil service pensions will go and what the tax position is on them.

Might be worth doing a search on pensions, and if you can't find the answer then start a new thread with a relevant title. I know we have a couple of forum members that kindly give answers to the kind of questions that make my brain hurt just reading them i.e. tax/pension/financial type stuff!
