You should look up Calgary Foothills SC, our son just started the U6 (I know you wont qualify to play in his team lol) and is loving it. They have a very good reputation here:fingerscrossed:

what is the cost of living like, for example what can you expect to pay for, a litre of petrol, a pint of milk, a loaf of bread ect...

I am afraid its more expensive than we expected it to be (compare to US for sure). Food shopping especially. Fuel is round about $1.130. If you shop in Safeway you get $0.05 off per liter, standard loaf of pre-sliced bread $1.99, 4Lt milk is $4.97 plus deposit $0.25 and recycling $0.05. You do need to shop around but thats very simillar to UK. I used to shop in Morrisons, Sainsburys and Tesco so here you will have Safeway and Real Canadian Superstore. Stay away from COOP as its super expensive. Forgot to say - the cheese is mega expensive here. Orange plastic one will cost you around $10!!!

:)

You also get these refunds on an advance account so I have found no major problems with HSBC. In fact as I often need to send money back and fro from the UK it has been really good. One negative thing as mentioned is lack of branches but there is one beside my work and oen near where I live at Crowfoot so works for me.

However I have recently learnt that soon the only branch open on a Saturday will be the Chinatown one which is a pain.

Football is primarily still a girls sport here...its not structured like the UK..Also it is a summer sport played mostly from May-Aug. Adult football does exist but not the way you are used to..again a lot is indoor ad hok kinda stuff..there are some adult leagues. you will find the majority of good standard players are immigrants.
