Default Moving to Calgary

Hi, I am in the process of moving to Calgary on a work permit, i will be looking to apply for my PR in the future, I have heard differnent people saying that it is easier to apply for your PR whilst in the UK, i was hoping somebody would clear this up for me,
also is it possible to open a bank account before you actually move, or can you only do this when you arrive. I have so much to sort out I just dont know were to start, lukily this forum is full of usefull information
Also if anybody has any tips on moving I will be glad to hear them, I know thats a bit of an open question, but any help will do.

From the point of view of simply submitting the PR application, there's not much difference whether you do it while you're in the UK or after you move to Canada.

If you want to fast-track your PR application, you in any case have to submit the application to London, regardless of where you're living at the time. See the Wiki article called Fast Track PR Application.

I suppose it might be easier to track down certain documentation while you're still in the UK, e.g., documents that prove your job history, etc.

I came here 31 years ago and, even at that, didn't come from the UK. So I don't know about your application process from personal experience. But that's how it looks to me from the knowledge I've gained from participating in this forum for three years.

You can open a bank account before you move. But, depending on your personal circumstances, there may or may not be a benefit to doing that. It's pretty easy to open a bank account once you're here. See the Wiki article called Banking-Canada.

Read the Wiki articles called Departure To Do List and Arrival To Do List.

If you haven't already stumbled on them, there are heaps of Wiki articles about Calgary.
